NEVC Announces Athlete of the Week Honorees (Week Ending 3.2)
Smithfield, R.I.- The New England Volleyball Conference (NEVC) has announced its Athlete of the Week honorees for the week ending 3/2/25. The full list of honorees can be found below.
Athlete of the Week
Alex Lombardo (So., S), SUNY Potsdam
Sophomore Alex Lombardo (East Hampton, N.Y.) helped the Bears to a 3-0 mark on the week. He recorded 27 assists in a 3-0 sweep at Houghton on Friday night. On Saturday, the sophomore had 43 assists in a 3-0 sweep of Wilkes College- the third most in a 3-set match in Division III this season. Lombardo then matched a career-high with 51 assists in a 3-1 victory over Hilbert College in the weekend finale- tied for the fourth most in a four-set match in Division III this season. He averaged 12.10 assists per set on the week, and chipped in 13 digs, five kills and three service aces.
Rookie of the Week
Christopher Wong (Fr., MH), SUNY Potsdam
Freshman Christopher Wong (Elmont, N.Y.) helped the Bears to a 3-0 record over the weekend. On Friday, he recorded five kills, three digs and two blocks in a 3-0 win at Houghton. The middle hitter totaled six kills, two digs, a block and an ace in a 3-0 win over Wilkes College. Wong capped his weekend with a career-high 12 kills to go with three digs and an ace in a 3-1 win at Hilbert College. He averaged 2.30 kills per set on .545 hitting on the week.
